Canelo Alvarez thinks a possible Mayweather-Khan match will never be as big as their PPV showdown

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will not be impressed if the fighter that handed him his first loss in pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr. faces off with Amir Khan in May.

Speaking to the media at the official announcement of “Toe to Toe”, Alvarez’s first headlining pay-per-view where he’ll face Alfredo Angulo, Canelo didn’t have much to say about the possible Mayweather-Khan showdown.

Despite being tight lipped about the rumored bout, it is clear Alvarez thinks the bout won’t live up to the hype of his fight with Mayweather bout last fall.

“After what we did (Mayweather and Alvarez) in September there won’t be nothing that comes close,” Alvarez stated.

Despite what Canelo thinks, if Khan is aggressive against Mayweather if the two do meet in May, then the bout could easily be more entertaining than Money May’s domination of Alvarez in their bout. Sure, the bout won’t go anywhere near the PPV numbers and revenue the Mayweather-Canelo bout did, but not many fights outside of the mythical Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao showdown will.
