UFC light-heavyweight Brandon Vera is seen as a major marketing figure for MMA in the Philippines. As the UFC is pushing for in roads into foreign countries they are banking on their stars of mixed descent to help them get established in waters outside the US. UFC officials have been hedging their bets on the Philippines with established stars like Vera and Mark Munoz. Their popularity continues to grow but make no mistake, Manny Pacquiao continues to be the dominant sport figure in the country of 94 million.
Which is why his recent comments on the sport of boxing may lose him a few fans over in his ancestral homeland. Vera shared his opinion on boxing in this dated interview, and believes after a Mayweather/pacquiao super fight occurs boxing will be “over” and MMA will replace it.
