As the days go by and it becomes clearer that Amir Khan looks to have won his ticket to the lottery that is Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 3rd, the rematch between Marcos Maidana and Adrien Broner is solidifying.

Maidana scored a unanimous decision victory at The Alamodome in December of last year after trashing Broner for twelve hard fought rounds. It instantly ignited the boxing fan base. We all demanded Mayweather vs. Maidana but as the case is in boxing, we sometimes don’t get what we all want….ahem…Mayweather/Pacquiao.

The plan it seems on Golden Boy’s part is to put Broner in an immediate rematch with Maidana in April, something the fighter and his trainer Robert Garcia are not all that crazy about.

It’s a fight if thats all we have, we will do it. It’s not our first choice, we thought we earned a shot at Mayweather. It looks like they are going with Amir Khan. We can’t wait until September. What happens if he changes his mind? Broner is calling for the rematch and I’ve read they have dates for the fight, so now it’s about negotiating.

It’s easy to side with what Garcia is saying. Many fans have scoffed at the idea of Khan whom has not looked impressive in his last two fights being competitive against Mayweather. Though Khan did defeat Maidana in their fight in 2010, fans argue that the relentlessness of the Argentine would shake things up if he were to face Money May.

So what does Marcos Maidana have to say about all this rematch talk?

Marcos is not very happy with that, he feels he’s not getting a fair shake. He feels he doesn’t need to fight Broner. That Broner should fight somebody else before he gets another shot and feels he deserves to fight Floyd Mayweather.

Many fans would agree with what Garcia and Maidana have to say on the matter but at the end of the day boxing is a business. BIG business and at this point in his career Floyd is looking to cash out. His best option from a business stand point would be Amir Khan. This leaves us with another thrilling encounter between Broner and Maidana.

I’m ok with it; their first match up was awesome. So honestly who could really say not to part duex?
