After two-straight losses and enlisting the help of hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach, Miguel Cotto will make a return to the ring on Oct. 5 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla against Delvin Rodriguez in the first of the final three fights of his career.

Cotto, a three-division champ, will look to impress against Rodriguez, in his quest to land a fight with middleweight title holder Sergio Martinez in the near future.

The 33-year-old Rodriguez (26-5-3, 14 KOs) enters the Cotto bout with fair success in the ring, as he has challenged for major titles in two divisions, but came up empty-handed each time a world title was on the line.

Although Cotto (37-4, 30 KOs) is the younger of the two fighters at 32, he has more boxing wear on him, as many of his fights saw Cotto take tremendous punishment, even in some wins.

Rodriguez hasn’t always showed power in his wins, but he is coming off two-straight KO victories and with Cotto always being ready to mix-it-up, a third KO win in a row is a possibility.

Cotto has lost twice via early stoppage, one by TKO against Antonio Margarito and the other via TKO at the hands of Manny Pacquiao. The Margarito loss was a controversial one, especially after Margarito was busted for using illegal hand wraps against Shane Mosley.

The fight should be a highly contested battle as Cotto will look towards another shot at becoming world champ and ending his long, successful career on a high note and Rodriguez will be looking for the signature win of his career and possibly a third shot at a world title.

You can catch the action on HBO on a card that will be co-promoted by Cotto Promotions and Top Rank or live at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla where tickets will go on sale on Tuesday July 30th.
