In recent days reports have surfaced that Paulie Malignaggi would no longer face “Sugar” Shane Mosley on April 27th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The sticking point over the whole issue involves the amount of money Malignaggi is asking for to headline a show against Mosley. While this was going on, Malignaggi issued a open challenge to Marcos Maidana, stating that a fight with the Argentinian was one that he has wanted for “100 years.”

As of right now, no one really knows what is going on other than Paulie Malignaggi will fight someone on April 27th and that Marcos Maidana will also be featured on that card. Our interview ninja Marcos Villegas checked in with Shane Mosley today as the future hall of famer is just as in the dark as everyone else, ” at this point I am not really sure. I am suppose to meet up with Paulie Malignaggi and talk about and why…he is afraid? He says it is because of finance and Golden Boy is not paying him what he should be paid.”

Molsey though feels finances may not be the only reason as to why Malignaggi is choosing not to take a fight with him, “Maybe he thinks I am too good for him? Maybe he thinks I can beat him and he can’t win? Maybe that is the reason why he does not want to take the fight. Maybe he believes with Marcos Maidana that he can run around the ring and out point and beat him and maybe he feels he can not out work me around the ring and win a fight.” Mosley also touches on the fact the he feels him and Malignaggi would do a better gate and possibly sell out in comparison with a Maidana bout.
