UFC 136 Update – Aldo vs. Florian/Edgar vs. Maynard Mini Preview

On Friday the UFC announced some breaking news concerning the UFC 136 fight card for the event slated to take place October 8, in Houston, TX. Jose Aldo will defend his Featherweight title against Kenny Florian and Frankie Edgar will put his Lightweight title on the line again when he fights Gray Maynard for the third time.

Just those two title fights make the event worth watching because not a single fighter in those two bouts ever gives a boring fight. Although, the last Edgar- Maynard fight ended in a draw earlier this year in January, it was a very exciting and controversial fight that left us wanting more. Edgar showed a ton of heart by continuing to fight intelligently after getting rocked, beat up and bloodied very early in the fight. Watching him fight always leaves me in amazement, as his quick foot movement and hand speed is on par with the fastest in the sport. If Sonic the Hedgehog was ever re-incarnated as a MMA fighter, he would definitely be Frankie Edgar.

KenFlo is next in line to take on Jose Aldo, who has 12 consecutive wins. For you recent fans that do not know, Jose Aldo is the former WEC Featherweight Champion who defended that title one time after being promoted to the UFC Featherweight Champion. Aldo has proved that he is UFC caliber by getting a unanimous win over Mark Hominick, but if he really wants to drive the point across he needs to get a win over KenFlo.

Kenny Florian is known for his great BJJ, which he should be considering seriously as a tactic as he is a 2nd degree Black Belt. Time and time again though what fans like to see the most from KenFlo are his devastating elbows that he uses to slice ham at home! Seriously though, this guy can cut you open like a fisherman gutting a fish
.
Another good fight scheduled on the UFC 136 card is lightweight fan favorites and TUF alumni Joe Lauzon battling KO artist Melvin Guillard. After a up and down career at this point, Guillard has put together a good win streak and many are looking to him as the next great lightweight fighter. In addition two more BJJ Black Belts will go at it when Jorge Santiago takes on Demian Maia.

All this takes place on October 8th in Houston, Texas.
