Top Lightweight Mark Bocek Up For The Challenge From Ben Henderson At UFC 129

Talented UFC lightweight Mark Bocek (9-3) has carved out a niche for himself as one of the top submission fighters in the 155-pound division. Having garnered a 5-3 record inside the vaunted Octagon, including winning three of his last four bouts, the Canadian competitor has built a surge of momentum that he hopes will propel him to victory over former WEC Lightweight Champion Ben “Smooth” Henderson at UFC 129 on Saturday, April 30th, live at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The bout will be featured on the main card, and has the potential to steal the show.

“I expect a tough fight,” says Bocek. “I would think he would try to avoid the ground, and keep it more of a standing fight, but you never really know. You have to be prepared for everything. I’m not really going to give away my game plan because it’s a bit of a secret, but we’re both grapplers so it has potential to hit the ground at some point.”

“In this time, it’s really hard to get sponsorships or good support from companies, so I’m really thankful and pleased to have Revgear sponsor me and help me out,” stated Bocek. “People don’t really like to hear about sponsors, but it supports the fighters and their camps in training, and it’s really crucially important. So I’m thankful to Revgear for that.”

A native of Toronto himself, Henderson is extremely proud to be competing at the first-ever UFC event in his hometown. Over 55,000 tickets have been sold, and it’s expected that PPV and gate records will be smashed at UFC 129. Bocek has bold dreams for the event.

“I’d like to end it in the first round, like every fight, but I will be prepared for a three-round war.” If he beats Henderson, Bocek is very clear on where he thinks he’ll be sitting in the lightweight rankings: “Top-five.”
