So it is upon us, this Saturday in Atlantic City the Showtime Super Middleweight tournament will finally have it’s main event final. On the left side of the finals bracket is undefeated WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward. He will await the winner between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson who do battle this Saturday. Though the tournament has seen a fair share of drama, including Jermain Taylor bowing out early, Andre Dirrell dropping out claiming he was suffering from a injury and the pride of Denmark, Mikkel Kessler suffer a eye injury seeing him exit the tournament. Despite all the exits, I for one have enjoyed the tournament and it has helped develop unknowns such as Ward, Froch and Kessler to a wider fan base.
As the end draws nigh we turn it over to Showtime analyst Al Bernstein who spoke to our fight correspondent Marcos Villegas about a few happenings in the world of boxing, starting with the dud that was Pacquiao vs. Mosley, the spanking Arthur Abraham received from tournament finalist Andre Ward and what we can expect in this bout between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson.
