Strikeforce has come out with matches announced for the upcoming January 29th event in San Jose, CA on Showtime. The first of which comes by way of a middleweight bout with champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (13-2 MMA) defending his belt against Robbie Lawler.
Jacare captured Strikeforce gold in August beating Tim Kennedy for the vacant 185-pound crown. This will be his first defense of the title against a opponent that is both heavy handed and well rounded.
Trevor Prangley looks set to make his way back into the Strikeforce cage, riding on a split decision win over Keith Jardine at Shark Fights 13 in Texas. Prangley’s opponent will be Roger Gracie (3-0 MMA) who recently came back from a two year layoff to beat Kevin Randleman via rear naked choke in May at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, MI.
Herschel Walker will be included on the card as well, after sustaining a cut that force him out of the Henderson vs. Babalu card the former Heisman Trophy winner will have his second professional fight against his original opponent Scott Carson.
