Scott Smith and Cung Le do it again for the rubber match

After dropping a shocking third round TKO loss to underdog Scot Smith, Cung Le will get the rubber match he has been seeking. The two Strikeforce fighters are set to match up on June 26th on “Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs Werdum”at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.

Smith who has made a name for himself with comeback victories over Benji Radach and Pete Sell is looking to best the former Strikeforce middleweight champion once more. “He got the best of me last time with a good punch,” Le said. “We both fought our hearts out that night, but I’ve wanted a chance to turn the tables on him since that fight ended and now my opportunity is here. I am very excited to fight a warrior like Scott again.”

In an undercard bout former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson is on the comeback trail as he looks to get past Pat “Bam Bam” Healy. No one could forget the memorable five round war Thomson had with current Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and expectations are high for another stellar performance and is looking for a rematch with the current champion if he succeeds against Healy. “I’m up for a third fight with Gilbert, if that’s what Strikeforce wants, but my sole focus now is on winning my next fight. For me, the future is June 26 and beating Healy.”

It will be a tough test for Thomson as Healy has won three fights in a row and a total of his last 5 out of six fights. “I’ll fight anyone but there are two guys in the 155-pound as far as I’m concerned and that’s Josh and Melendez,” Healy said. “A win over Thomson, then Melendez could be next for me”
