Saul “Canelo” Alvarez talks fame, Chavez Jr. and Carlos Baldomir

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is only 20 years old. The current undefeated boxer sports a record of 33-0 and has a rabid fan base in his native Mexico. So much so that it is comparable to Bieber fever here in the U.S. You will see Canelo constantly mentioned on radio, TV and his fights command viewership where practically the whole country of Mexico tunes in. Be it his red hair and baby face looks, Canelo commands the Mexican male as well as the Mexican females, who follow his every move. In preparation for his September 18th bout with veteran Carlos Baldomir, Alvarez had a public workout for fans and media alike this past Tuesday at the world famous Placita Olvera in Los Angeles.

When the cameras were on him “Canelo,” spoke to media about how it was a honor to fight on a card celebrating Mexican Independence, how he has handled the sudden surge of fame and the tough challenge that Baldomir presents to the young and upcoming fighter.
