It was rumored last week that BJ Penn would take on Jon Fitch, while Michael Bisping would take on Jorge Rivera as co-main eventers for UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia on February 27.
UFC officials confirmed today that these two matches are official for the event. For Penn, it marks his return to the welterweight division, after a successful 21 second win over Matt Hughes. Fitch comes into the fight with a five-fight win streak totaling up 21 wins in his past 22 fights.
Michael Bisping is riding on a win streak of his own, posted three wins in his past four fights, including decision victories over Dan Miller and Yoshihiro Akiyama. His opponent Jorge Rivera has three consecutive UFC wins as well. His victories come by edging Nissen Osterneck by split decision at UFC Fight Night 18, stopping Rob Kimmons at UFC 104 and handling Nate Quarry at UFC Fight Night 21.
