Paul Daley “I am not a fan of his style (Amir Khan)” talks past British Boxers

Hard hitting Strikeforce welterweight Paul Daley is a man who speaks his mind. Ask him a question and he gives you an honest response. So when we caught up with him and asked him about junior welterweight boxing champion Amir Khan, who fights this weekend in Washington D.C. against Lamont Peterson on HBO, his answer surprised us.

Turns out Daley is a fan of boxers that share his similar style, or as he puts it “clinical knock out artists.” When asked his thoughts on Khan, Daley responded with this “I love Amir Khan, he is winning..I..I do not really like his style of..you know, I like a guy who is a clinical knock out artist. Amir Khan punches in bunches and he tries to overwhelm the guy.” Seems Daley fancies brawlers, but to Khan’s defense he has a fan friendly style. If you know boxing and have taken the time out to actually study and train in it, you see Amir Khan and one thing becomes apparent, the kid can box and can box well.

Give me a boxer who mixes in fast combinations and moves in and out over a brawler any day. Khan’s status continues to grow in boxing for the mere fact that he continues to challenge himself with good solid opponents. His bout with Peterson this weekend is no pushover fight and a victory will keep him on track for a huge 2012.
