Pacquiao vs. Algieri: Algieri not intimidated by Pacman

After winning the biggest fight in his career against the heavy-handed Ruslan Provodnikov earlier this summer, it is no wonder Chris Algieri said he is not intimidated by his next opponent, Manny Pacquiao, despite the illustrious career Pac-Man as had.

After besting Provodnikov in their bout, there is no reason to not believe him, as of late Provodnikov has been a more dangerous fighter, but lacks the skills that Pacquiao has in the squared-circle.

Algieri, who was a world champion kick boxer before taking up professional boxing, said he has been learning on the job ever since his first pro boxing match, which was is first boxing match period.

Using his long, strong jab to control most of his fights, his pure boxing style gave Provodnikov fits after a quick start that saw Algieiri meet the canvas twice and develop a grotesquely swollen eye.

The New York native plans to implement a similar plan against Pacquiao and hopes to smother the Filipino star with punches, while using his stiff jab to try and control the action.

Pacquiao has done well in the past against fighters who push the action, but Algieri is not letting that deter him from trying so himself when the two meet Nov. 22 at The Venetian in Macao, China.
