Erik Morales and Marcos Maidana took part in a international teleconference media call hyping their upcoming bout April 9th at the MGM Grand In Las Vegas, NV. Both Morales and Maidana answered questions regarding the fight. In particular, Morales defended he decision to take the bout in the first place.
“People have to remember that I chose the fight with Maidana, my technique is better than his. There are certain rules in fights – I just hope he follows them,” Said Morales.
In reference to his come back fights and how they have helped him in preparation for Maidana, Morales had this to say, “I had a game plan. Every one of those fights moved me to this one. Now, I’m going to peak for Maidana.I assure you, I’m going to win this fight.”
Maidana on the other hand did not let the calls of a farce fight get to him and though he did quote that Morales was beyond his peak he was training as if he were facing the “Morales of old.”
“It still should be a very good fight,It’s not going to be easy, but you’ll see the same ol’ Maidana come out, throwing punches, with guns blazing. If he can withstand it, great. If not, good night,” Said Maidana.
Morales vs. Maidana will be shown on April 9th on HBO PPV.
