It’s been awhile since Amir Khan headlined a large scale event and he has that opportunity this week as we reach the tail end of the fight week festivities heading into this weekend’s showdown with Devon Alexander.

Khan worked out in front of throngs of media and fans in the lobby of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where the fight will take place at the Grand Garden Arena Saturday night, televised live on Showtime.

Khan is looking to build off his impressive welterweight debut victory over Luis Collazo in May on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Marcos Maidana I.

With a bout with Mayweather Jr. presumably on the line this spring for Khan, he must come out and have a dominant showing against Alexander.

Khan cannot get caught looking ahead to a possible career-changing fight with ‘Money May’ as Alexander presents a tough challenge himself.

Khan looked as muscular as we have seen him his entire career and going off his last bout, the move up to 147 pounds was a wise one.

Khan showed power, knocking Collazo down three time in the unanimous decision victory, and looked comfortable at the elevated weight.

Alexander is a former IBF welterweight champ and has wins over some big time names such as Maidana and Lucas Matthysse on his resume and will look to add Khan to his impressive list.

Alexander isn’t the biggest puncher, which bodes well for Khan and his suspect chin, but what he lacks in power he makes up in speed and agility.
