Michael Bisping sure knows his British Boxing history. Our fight correspondent Marcos Villegas recently caught up with him in Newport Beach, CA and the two chatted about British Boxing and of all things, Jean Claude Van Damme!
Bisping idolized heavyweight boxers Mike Tyson and Frank Bruno growing up but it was not them that got him into martial arts, it was Van Damme! Bisping was a huge fan of Van Damme and movies such as Universal Solider, Bloodsport, Timecop and others inspired him to train. Conversation then turned to former junior welterweight boxing champion Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan. It seems Bisping believes Khan could not only be bigger than Hatton in his native UK but posses the tools to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr.
