Is it just us or has McKee been a little quiet about this Volkmann fight?

So what the heck is going on with Mr. Antonio McKee? Knowing the guy, and we know him pretty well, he would of said something off the wall given that his big UFC debut is about a week away. If you may or may not know, McKee who is 40, will be facing Jacob Volkmann at this Saturday’s UFC 125 card in the opening match of the night.

In past interviews in the build up to his fights McKee he has gone on to say things such as claiming he is “The baddest man on the planet,” saying he would retire if he would have a boring performance to blaming having sex before his fights contributing to some of those dull performances. So it came to a surprise to us and many in the MMA world that McKee seems to have been rather quiet this time around. Could it be he is nervous about his debut, or maybe worried about the wrath Zuffa could bring with his sometimes off the wall comments?

“Well I work for a new company now, a new organization and I have to follow the new rules. I just wanted to go in with a different mentality this time, I did all the talking to get me where I needed to get. I’m here now and now I am going to be letting my fists do the talking,” says McKee.

Well one thing is for sure, lately we have been seeing the kinder, softer side of McKee. The man who has be undefeated in seven years, though he hasn’t faced the toughest his division has to offer has been showing that behind the mouth is a man that cares for is community and his various non-profits he contributes time and money too.

“I think fans have gotten to know the real me. They are starting to see the different types of things I do for the community and the environment. I help the kids through my charity and have donated a lot of time to help out.”

McKee certainly has attracted new fans, but they wont be disappointed as the McKee they love to hear, still lurks inside. You just gotta get it out of him little by little. As they say the last thing to go in a fighter is their punching power, the same can be true about their ability to self promote or create buzz and McKee certainly has not lost sight of that, though he is doing it in a much more nonchalant way.

“People are comparing GSP to me. They got it wrong! GSP needs to be compared to me, I have been doing what he has been doing for years before him!”

Well to sum up whats in this little video shot below, McKee says that he would like to be matched up with Frankie Edgar, that no one in the UFC’s 155lbs division can stop him, the GSP comment and he gives his take on who he thinks will win this Saturday between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

We wont keep you reading any longer, we bring to you, the man, Antonio Mckee!
