We have learned from sources with Golden Boy Promotions that World Boxing Association interim super lightweight champion Marcos “El Pollo” Maidana has pulled out of his upcoming July 17th bout with WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. Gary Shaw, who co-promotes Bradley with Thompson Boxing Promotions, received a call from Eric Gomez the Vice President/Matchmaker of Golden Boy Promotions, Maidana’s co-promoter informing him that Maidana was pulling out of the fight.
“Eric told me Maidana missed his flight to the U.S. and later in the same conversation told me Maidana’s back was still injured and that he would not be fighting.” said Shaw. The July 17th date is still in place for Bradley with a opponent to be announced soon.
