Kessler vs. Green Venue Decided

WBC Super-Middleweight Champion Mikkel Kessler will face Allan Green September 25th on danish soil at the MCH multiarena in Herning. Kessler is looking for a victory to progress to the semi finals of the tournament while Green needs a win to stay in the tournament.

Danish fans are expected to cheer on hometown favorite Kessler as arena officials are expecting a sell-out crowd of 13,500 fans.

“I look forward to returning to Herning. The victory over Froch was very important but I need to take care of Green now – otherwise it will not be worth anything. I am determined to open the new arena in style and that means I will beat Green decisively,” said Kessler.

“This will be a very special evening for boxing fans in Denmark and all over the world,” Kalle Sauerland said. “The stakes have never been higher. It is not just Mikkel´s WBC belt that is on the line but he also needs a victory to progress in the Super Six tournament. Allan Green is very dangerous but with a sell-out crowd behind him Mikkel will make his country proud and knock him out.”

It will be Kessler´s third fight in Herning. In September 2009, he stopped Gusmyr Perdomo in the fourth round to book his place in the Super Six tournament. After losing his belt to Andre Ward in Round 1 on Oakland, he rebounded with a spectacular victory over Carl Froch.

On the same night WBA middleweight Champion Andre Ward will take on Andre Dirrell in a double header to be shown on Showtime.
