Kessler embarkes on training camp against Green

WBC Super-Middleweight Champion Mikkel Kessler has started his training camp for his crucial Super Six title defense against Allan Green. The Viking Warrior will take on his American opponent in Denmark on September 25 at a venue to be announced.

Kessler trainer Jimmy Montoya has joined the champion in Copenhagen to prepare the pride of Denmark for the Super Six showdown.

“The fun part is over for Mikkel,” Montoya said. “He got his well-deserved rest after the fight against Froch but it will be blood, sweat and tears for him from now on. I was pleased with his performance against Froch but there is still a lot more to come from him. I expect him to get even better against Green.”

The bout between Froch was a back and forth one, ultimately resulting in Kessler capturing the WBC super middleweight title over the “Corbra.”

“It was a great fight and I was very happy to become world champion again,” Kessler said. “I had a good rest and a great vacation but now I am back in the gym to prepare for Allan Green. There is a lot at stake – not just my world title but also the qualification for the semi-finals. I need a victory on September 25 and together with Jimmy and my team I will defeat Green!”
