Juan Manuel Marquez speaks Juan Diaz

Marquez on Juan Diaz and their first fight:

“We’re not thinking of anything Diaz can do different in the rematch. We’re not going to be overconfident. We’re going in just like the first fight to take care of business. (the first fight) It was very significant and very motivating. Keep in mind that it takes two to tango. Juan Diaz deserves credit as well. The rematch will be equal if not better than the first fight.”

Marquez on his bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.:

“We knew going into the Mayweather fight that it was going to be very difficult. What made it difficult was the excess weight Mayweather had – an extra 15 pounds. We gave it our all the entire time and just came up short.”

Marquez on his age:

“It’s not harder at all (to train for fights at the age of 36). I get up with the same enthusiasm I’m motivated to defend my titles with the same amount of pride. I don’t know how much longer I will fight, that’s up to God to decide.”

Marquez on his desire to fight Manny Pacquiao one more time:

“I want Manny Pacquiao. I want that third fight with him before my career ends. That is what my heart desires.”
