When one thinks the word boxing and announcing in the same sentence one name immediately pops up. Bruce Buffer. His “Lets get ready to rumble” moniker has gained him fame and fortune the world over. But before Bruce there was Jimmy Lennon Jr. For those following the fight game for decades, Lennon has been woven into the fabric of the sport. Following in the footsteps of his father, Jimmy Lennon Sr. Lennon has etched out his place in boxing history. I personally favor Lennon over Bruce Buffer. Call it preference but there is something about his style that is akin to the acquired taste of rare scotch whiskey. The one thing that has always tripped me out about Jimmy Lennon Jr, is that he is like a carbon clone of his father. The two sound exactly alike! It’s scary! We had a chance to catch up with the man before a recent local mma show. jimmy is such a class act. We were not allowed to do any interviews at the arena due to some weird no filming mandate. Jimmy snuck us into the backstage area and eventually outside and granted us this interview.
