Jeremy Spoon – “This fight will let people know I am here to fight and stay around for a while”

Dominating the competition since his arrival to the Bellator Fighting Championship in 2011, undefeated lightweight contender Jeremy Spoon’s talents and performance showcased in the cage, have set the stages for a promising career for in mixed martial arts.

A resident of Chickasha,Oklahoma, Spoon made his professional debut in 2008. Since his debut, he has left a trail of destruction every time opposition has stood in his path. When looking back at his ascent, the biggest attribute to his four year winning streak for the Apex Brazilian Jiu JItsu fighter, has been his willingness to always be open to exploring new ideas toward helping with his development as a fighter.

“The biggest attribute that has led to me being successful this long is willing to learn to new stuff,” said Spoon. “I began fighting as a pure wrestler but by putting in overtime and hard work, I’m becoming rounded with boxing, jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and improving on everything. To stay ahead and make sure you keep getting better this is what you have to do.”

This attitude and mindset has led Spoon to great achievements thus far. Since his inauguration, he has assembled an impressive record of 12-0; eight of those wins coming by way of submission, which has generated a major siege of hype surrounding Jeremy from the fans and fellow peers in his division.

“It’s been great fighting for Bellator and as I keep winning I will get more respect from fans and everyone else… However, I try and not let the hype of being undefeated get to me. I know a lot of people think I should win every fight but sometimes fighters have a bad night and don’t perform the best and lose. I just try and make sure I’m better that night.”

With momentum on his side, Spoon now sets his sights on his upcoming fight, this Friday, March 9 at Bellator 60 and is preparing to go to war with Daniel Stratus. His opponent holds a pro record of 17-4 and is an experienced veteran of the organization. Stratus brings a well-rounded and aggressive style to all of his fights, finishing seven and going to win unanimous decisions in the rest. However this wealth of knowledge that the Cincinnati fighter holds doesn’t deteriorate Spoon’s objective of coming away victorious in the upcoming bout.

“I know he (Daniel Stratus) is the most well rounded fighter I will have fought and has good striking, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu. I am working on everything I can that is going to help me do my best. My bro, teammates, and coaches have been helping me prepare for this fight. I couldn’t have asked for any better group of guys for the help.”

Having his vision on the future, Spoon hopes to continue his run to the top of the Bellator ladder. Backed by a great support system and a driven passion to become the best, there is no denying that the sky is the limit for “Spooner”.

“I’m hoping with the win everyone will know I’m coming to fight always and plan on staying around for a while. I’m just going to keep doing what I have been doing to get to the top and stay motivated no matter what. I just want to shout out to my family I love you all, my coaches, teammates, friends and all my sponsors.”
