What Do Cub Swanson And Timothy Bradley Have In Common?

As the MMA world prepares for this weekends Strikeforce bout between Nick Diaz and “Cyborg” Santos, the boxing world will see a highly anticipated bout which will pit the two top welterweight boxers in the game right now, Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander go head to head at the Silverdome in Michigan.

The match up is one that had to be made though it is sad to see that the two best in boxing’s most stacked division are not getting the same amount of attention as other fights that will pit two fighters of less skill together. It proves a few things with the sport of boxing. Fighters are not getting the attention that is deserved to them and being held back by the name value of aging stars and the sport of boxing overall needs to do a better job of marketing the sport to a young audience.

This is the equivalent of Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort, and it baffles me how little attention it is being given. There is another thing that baffles me, UFC featherweight Cub Swanson grew up with the current WBO champion Timothy Bradley.

Looks like the two grew up in Palm Springs, where even at a young age Bradley seemed destined to become a legend. “He was really dedicated,” Swanson commented mentioning that he remembers seeing the young Bradley running on the track in the morning. ” There were people around him that had been boxing for awhile and had become pro, he took his time and really developed. He always stayed true and stayed humble and really put in the work to become a champion.”

So how was Cub in high school?

“Timmy’s dad would catch me ditching and would send me to ISS (detention). What a small world right? For more on Timmy in high school view the video below!
