As mentioned before in a previous post, we made the trek up to downtown Los Angeles, CA to cover the Chavez Jr. vs. Alfonso Gomez press conference kick off.
We learned a few things from this fateful trip. First and foremost, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. looks like a solid dude. What caught us most by surprise was the fact that he has a huge head! Like Tito Ortiz huge! (for you mma fans.) We were in awe of the massiveness of it. With a head that big, he must be able to take a good shot like his old man.
Alfonso Gomez is in a hip-hop/rock group? The guy can rap and in Spanish. It was the most random thing in the world listening to him flow in spanish and his performance during the press conference got the biggest applause to the disdain of Chavez. The name of his group is called hybrid, but make no mistake, Gomez shared with us that his band duties would be put on the side to train for what he calls the most important fight of his career.
Nonito Donaire has to be one of thee nicest guys around. Not only is he polite and a good dresser, the guy is funny as hell. We spent a whole two hours bullshitting with him about Bruce Lee, his thoughts on mma and other random happenings.
All in all, this December 4th card Top Rank has put together at the Honda Center looks pretty solid and with tickets at just $30 bucks a pop, its certainly a must see for those fans in the southern California region.
