Chael Sonnen suspended by the UFC

As first reported by TMZ.com Chael Sonnen has reportedly been suspended by the UFC. The embattled fighter admitted to money laundering charges earlier in the week and today was suspended by the Las Vegas based Organization.

“Chael Sonnen has gone through a lot in the last few months, and we think it’s important for him to focus on getting his personal life together before focusing on his career in the UFC,” UFC president Dana White told TMZ.com. Prior to the suspension, Sonnen was scheduled to face Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 128. It now seems “Sexyama” will be given a new opponent. Sonnen’s laundering charges stem from him taking part in a scam to net more than $69,000 in loan proceeds through the submission of a falsified repair order. Sonnen made a deal with prosecutors, agreeing to give up his realtor’s license and paying a $10,000 fine, plus a two year probation sentence.
