Carl Froch begins training camp ahead of Abraham bout

Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl “the Cobra” Froch will begin his training camp for his upcoming Super Six showdown against Arthur Abraham on October 2nd. The bout had some early missteps as both fighters were dead set on fighting on home soil. Luckily an agreement was reached between both fighters promotional camps and the bout will be taking place at Chapiteau de l’Espace venue in the ward of Fontvieille in the tiny country of Monaco.

Froch will be teaming up with Rob McCracken at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on July 26th to start his intensive 10 week training camp ahead of his crucial Super Six Group Stage 3 face off against “King” Arthur Abraham.

Both Fighters are looking to rebound off their first career losses and a spot in the Super Six semi finals, slated to start the first quarter 2011.

“It will be hard leaving my family for such a long time, but to make sure I secure a semi final place in the Super Six I have to get away from all distractions, concentrate, and make sure my preparations are spot-on this time, I cannot afford to leave any stone unturned,” Said Froch.

“The Institute of Sport is an excellent training facility; I could travel the world and still not find a camp that is better equipped, this also gives me the added motivation as I will be training alongside some of the Country’s fittest and best amateur boxers, who certainly keep me on my toes.”

Promoter Mick Hennessy said “This fight has all the ingredients to be talked about for many years to come, just like the Hagler vs. Hearns showdown, it’s an exciting matchup between two of the world’s very best punchers and it is sure to be explosive, it’s being held at a fabulous venue and a very fitting location for a marquee fight like this. What else could you ask for?”
