Floyd Mayweather excites boxing world hinting Manny Pacquiao fight could be next

Floyd-Mayweather

Despite years and years of trying to get the fight the world wants to see in a Floyd Mayweather Jr.Manny Pacquiao done and nothing coming out of negotiations, the world will still not give up hope in the dream bout coming to fruition.

With Pacquiao’s recent stellar showing against Brandon Rios in Macau the buzz that was starting die down after Pac-Man suffered two-straight losses began to build again.

Mayweather’s recent comments in an interview with Chris Robinson (via HustleBoss.com) mentioning Pacquiao or Amir Khan being possible foes for his next bout have stoked the Mayweather-Pacquiao flames even more.

“My focus is May third. I don’t know who my opponent may be,” Mayweather told Robinson. “If it’s Pacquaio it’s Pacquiao, if it’s Amir Khan it’s Amir Khan, I mean for 17 years they have been putting guys in front of me and I’ve been beating them.”

Just because Mayweather mentioned his next fight date of May 3 and Pacquaio in the same breath many will take that there is a real chance of the bout finally being made. Don’t believe the hype.

With the “Cold War” between Top Rank and Golden Boy being as bad as ever with them teaming up with networks (Golden Boy with Showtime and Top Rank with HBO) the likelihood of a Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown are as unlikely as ever.

All signs have been pointing to Khan and Mayweather meeting in the ring next spring and at the moment that fight has the best chance of coming to reality.

Despite most fans complaining about the fight before it has even been officially made, Khan is a big enough name to draw enough interest from fans, especially after the media blitz that follows a Mayweather fight being announced.

Those media invasions made fans believe that the likes of Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero were threats to Mayweather’s throne. Khan is better than both of the aforementioned fighters even with his questionable chin so fans may also be influenced by the promotional tour that would support their possible fight.
