A few weeks back, two big small men made some huge statements in Anaheim, CA. Anselmo Moreno, the WBA super champion of the bantamweight division had his coming out party a he defeated the man who brought prominence to the bantamweight division, Vic Darchinyan. With his slick south paw style and the effective use of the shoulder roll, Moreno had Darchinyan missing all night and fumbling everywhere. Abner Mares, the Showtime Bantamweight Tournament winner and the IBF bantamweight champion, erased all doubts as to who really won between himself and Joseph Agbeko earlier in the year. The first match up between the two was marred with low blows on Mares part, and it was a very close back and forth tussle.
Mares in the end proved that his speed and combinations were too much as he was the first in and the last out in many of the exchanges.
