Andre Ward talks update on ring return and litigation battle with Goossen Tudor Promotions

Since beating Edwin Rodriguez late last year at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Andre Ward has quietly been fighting in the court room with his promoter, Dan Goossen of Goossen Tudor Promotions. It is the main reason as to why the best super middleweight in the world has not had a fight since his manhandling of the Dominican fighter. It is a battle that is currently ongoing, as Ward looks to be represented by Top Rank in order to get more lucrative PPV caliber events. As of right now, Ward is the number two best fighter in the world. If you ask boxing experts, they would match him neck in neck with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in terms of skills and in-ring abilities. So it must be frustrating to Ward that guys less skilled than him such as Carl Froch and Georges Groves are selling out stadiums in England while he struggles to seat people at The Citizens Business Bank Arena.

You can’t blame Ward for this though. He won’t sell out and take the loud and braggadocious approach with media; he comes off as a extremely respectful and quiet mannered person in interviews and it’s simply just not him. Nor can you place blame on his fights that are perceived boring to  some outspoken fans (he’s so good that everyone looks meh in the ring with him). All he has done is his job, and that is win fights and he’s certainly done that. You could say a big part of the blame is with his promotional outfit and their current job in building his name nationally and worldwide. Though you can counter this with the very reasons I stated above as to why fans en masse have not gravitated toward the Oakland native.

Either way, Ward is not happy. As in this interview with Marcos Villegas, he explains the current situation he faces and feels at this point of his career he should be a PPV headliner.
