Gomez ready for Chavez Jr., predicts KO

WBC Continental Americas welterweight champion Alfonso Gomez (22-4-2, 11 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico, famed for season one of The Contender reality show, and who is trained by his father Alfonso Gomez Sr., looks to move up in weight, having spent most of his career at welterweight and challenge fellow countryman and current WBC Silver middleweight champion, the Son of the Legend, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KOs) of Culiacan, Mexico on Saturday, December 4th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.

“You are not going to want to miss this fight, I’m going to beat Chavez Jr. and take his undefeated record away,” said Alfonso Gomez. “Im training very hard for this fight; I’m very dedicated on winning this fight and on December 4th there will be a new champion,” continued Gomez.

In his last outing Alfonso Gomez defeated former two-time lightweight champion “El Temible” Jose Luis Castillo (62-10-1, 53 KOs), when Castillo refused to answer the bell for the start of round six on the Pacquiao vs. Clottey undercard at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX

Also, scheduled to be on the undercard will be two-division world champion “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire (24-1, 16 KOs), WBC lightweight champion Humberto “La Zorrita” Soto (53-7-2, 32 KOs), highly talented junior welterweight prospect Jose Benavidez (8-0, 8 KOs) and IBF #1 featherweight contender Miguel “Mikey” Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs), in separate bouts.

Chavez Jr. vs. Gomez, titled ‘In Harm’s Way’ is scheduled for 12-rounds for the WBC Silver middleweight title and will be available live on Pay-Per-View which is being presented by Top Rank and Zanfer Promotions.
