Following his impressive 0:38 second win over Herbert “Whisper” Goodman at Bellator 24, Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard was asked by Bellator commentator Jimmy Smith who he would like to fight next.
Lombard quickly answered Josh Barnett, who was in attendance cornering Megumi Fujii. It caught everyone by surprise, as to why Lombard would chose someone who outweighed him by nearly a hundred pounds. Message boards lit up and dream match scenarios were put into play but there was a real reason as to why Lombard chose to call out Barnett.
Fight Hub TV sent out our friendly neighborhood fight correspondent to CSW in Fullerton CA, where he spoke to Erik Paulson and informed him that the bad blood between the two started over a 30 minute sparring match that ended in him cleaning up some very bloody mats. What happened after prompted Lombard to leave CSW and make the move to Florida where he currently trains at American Top Team.
