Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16 KOs)  just made his return to the ring with a unanimous decision win over Darley Perez in Montreal and won the WBA lightweight belt. Prior to this Saturday’s (June 22, 2013) main event between Paulie Malignaggi and Adrien Broner, Gamboa spoke with Fight Hub TV about a possible match-up with the brash 23-year old Broner.

“Broner is the one that has always called me out.” Gamboa told Fight Hub TV. “I haven’t gone anywhere. I’m 135 lbs, I feel comfortable at this weight, and I’m not going anywhere, so if Broner wants to keep looking for me, he knows where to find me.”

Broner (26-0, 22 KOs) is all set to square off with Malignaggi on Saturday, who says “The Problem” has only been in there with tuna cans, and will be out of his element when they meet between the ropes this weekend. The young 23-year old has compiled a lot more name recognition than both Gamboa and Malignaggi over the past few years, just by being an outspoken and troubled young man with a cocky attitude that irritates other fighters, not to mention dude is an undefeated champ.

Gamboa explains why the two have yet to clash in the ring.

“He used to call me out when he fought at 130, I moved up to 130, won a title there. I’m moving up to 135, fighting for a title again, and he moves up again. Empty promises are on his side. Why so much noise?”

But the Cincinnati, Ohio native is a little preoccupied at the moment with Malignaggi, as the trash talk has nearly reached a boiling point going in to their meeting for the WBA welterweight championship. Too, with Gamboa being as inactive as he’s been over the past few years, and Broner bouncing around weight classes to collect belts, it’s no surprise these two have yet to hook ’em up.
