Victor Ortiz talks rematch with Andre Berto: “I Will Stand For No Less Than A Victory”

After delivering one of the best fights of 2011, former WBC Welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-3-2; 22 KO) will face off against Andre Berto (28-1; 22 KO) in a rematch from which Ortiz became the only man to defeat Berto, winning the championship as well. Coming back from a controversial loss against Floyd Mayweather Jr., the Ventura, Ca based welterweight is looking to showcase his “vicious” striking prowess against a man he has already beaten before.

FightHubTV caught up with the former champion in preparation for the fight and his comments were clear about his intentions, “I am all aboard 100% fighting Berto. No complaints, no excuses – I am coming in 110% and I am sure he will be as well.” After the loss and becoming the first to defeat “The Beast”, Berto’s camp has stated they feel that Ortiz was under the influence of PED’s in their fight and this paved his way to victory. Regarding these statements, Ortiz’ camp said, “For someone to make these accusations, which are not true, show how insecure they are about the defeat and feel they need to attack someone in a better position.” Both fighters have agreed to Olympic style drug testing for their rematch, which consists of random blood and urinalysis to detect any traces of illegal substances leading to the fight.

Repeat or Revenge: Victor Ortiz vs. Andre Berto II is live from MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV on February 11, 2012 and will be broadcast live on Showtime. Check local listings for showtimes and scheduling
