Daniel Cormier is one of the most well-spoken and dangerous fighters in MMA today. Arguably both. I’ve been saying for years that Daniel Cormier was the guy to beat Jon Jones and I still believe he’s better than Cain Velasquez. We’re looking at a fighter at his peak, arguably, and while he isn’t fighting Rashad Evans along with his fellow Olympians, his fight with Patrick Cummins is anything but uninteresting.

“He doesn’t know what he’s in for, he’s never done this, I’ve danced this dance before. It’s consuming and it overtakes you if you aren’t prepared for it.”

“I believe a win over Rashad Evans, I could’ve asked for anything. That’s me beating 3 UFC champions right there. A win of Patrick Cummins doesn’t have that pop, but things change fast in this sport and this organazation, so I just need to stay healthy and be ready to go. But this all means nothing if I don’t (win) on Saturday.”

“With Patrick it’s like, when I heard about the fight I was excited for him. He finally got his chance and we’re going to compete. Then he started talking. And now little Patrick is talking and won’t stop talking.”

Did he take it too far?

“There were certain things back then going on in my life and he knew that. That’s why I thought more than anything things should stay in the wrestling room. I honesty don’t know what he’s doing.”

This is a truly fantastic interview with Cormier where he touches on the lifestyle changes needed to compete at 205, watch below.
