It was a typical hot southern California day as we made the trek from OC to Los Angeles to attend the press conference to announce Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Alfonso Gomez on the 17th of September. Now let me say one thing, I don’t know how you people in Los Angeles are able to deal with parking. We got to the site of the presser at 11:00 am and did not find parking til about 11:40. Talk about wanting to punch a baby. So when we finally arrived, we were treated to a nice little lunch which included steaks, chicken and cookies. As always, the two star fighters were running on latino time, so the press conference did not start til about 40 minutes after the designated start time.
No worries though, as everyone involved in the fight spoke their piece on the split site PPV bout that will be on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortriz. Yup, this fight will be live from Staples Center in Los Angeles with Mayweather and Ortiz happening right after it concludes back in Las Vegas. Alfonso Gomez of course stole the show with his now infamous flows that he makes about his opponents, let’s just say Alvarez was not too pleased by his newest rap…
