Roy Jones Jr, Judah, Roach, Dawson and Pascal predict Mayweather vs. Guerrero

mayweather vs guerrero face off

By Mick Akers

Everyone has an opinion on who they think will be victorious Saturday night between Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero from the average everyday fan, to some of the biggest stars of the sport.

Some of the views have some solid points behind them and some of them are outlandish and really can’t be taken too seriously (Freddie Roach).

Out of the experts questioned in the video, Chad Dawson’s prediction is the most likely of scenarios that could take place this weekend.

Mayweather should prove to be too much for Guerrero, as if he thinks he can hang with Mayweather because of his Andre Berto performance, he will have a rude awakening Saturday.

Mayweather’s best chance is to fight in the middle of the ring, allowing a more clean fight, but Mayweather against the ropes will still have a few tricks up his sleeve unlike Berto.

With counter-punching abilities as good as anyone in boxing, Mayweather will find opportunities to land solid shots as Guerrero tries to open up on him on the ropes. The biggest shot to look for from Mayweather while he is on the ropes is his uppercut.

As Guerrero fires away, and most likely uses his body to try and rough-up Mayweather, slipping in a uppercut, unseen to Guerrero will be there all night. Since a uppercut comes from underneath a fighters vision, it is one power shot that can be landed without the opposition ever seeing it coming.

Sure Guerrero can come in with a game plan, but Mayweather will come in with multiple plans, as he is the best in the game at adapting during a fight.

Even if Guerrero comes in ultra-aggressive in the first few rounds as Roy Jones Jr. suggests he should, he could be setting himself up for trouble towards the end of the fight by punching himself out early on.

Guerrero might win two, maybe three rounds top, but in the end Mayweather should take the bout with a rather lopsided unanimous victory at the end of their 12-round bout Saturday night.
