As the Showtime Championship Boxing card headlined by Shawn Porter versus Kell Brook, the fighters took part in their media day Wednesday at the Fabela Chavez Boxing Center in Carson, California.

Also there was American heavyweight star Deontay Wilder, who was a late edition to the card, as he will take on Jason Gavern in the co-feature on the card that will take place at The StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Porter is planning on stopping Brook early, just as he did his last time out when he knocked out Paulie Malignaggi in April.

“I am going into the fight looking for that knockout. I told myself that going four rounds or less would be a beautiful night for me,” Porter said. “But at the same time I am prepared for a 12-round fight and being a boxer I know that you must be prepared for anything.”

Porter hopes that Brook fighting on American Soil for just the second time will add stress to the England native.

“Being that this is only the second time Kell Brook has fought in America, I hope he feels that added pressure of the big fight,” Porter stated. “The energy of the StubHub Center crowd will make him feel it, that’s for sure.”

Brook passed Porter’s hope off as he is treating the fight just as any he’s had in the past and is not letting the distance away from home to distract him form the bout.

“It doesn’t matter that this is only my second time fighting in America. It’s just another ring and I will be ready to go. Boxing is all I do,” Brook said.

Going even further on the talk off pressure, Brook explained he will use that in his advantage as he has been waiting for this moment his entire career.

“I have been waiting a very long time for my opportunity to fight in a world title fight, so the added pressure and anticipation will work in my favor,” Brook said. “I have never been more prepared for a fight before and knowing that this is the biggest fight of my career only adds to my confidence.”

In the co-feature, Wilder is taking a lot of heat for his choice of opponent with all the buzz surrounding him, fans wanted a bigger fight for the undefeated knockout artist.

Wilder said that those big fights will come, but when all circumstances for the bout are right, which for the sake of the heavyweight division is better sooner than later.

“I always want to fight the biggest and best fight. But it has to be the right time and the right money,” Wilder said. “If people understand that boxing is a business before anything else, then they will understand all the other aspects of boxing. Most people don’t know anything about the business side and make judgments.”

The card also features Sakio Bika versus Anthony Dirrell, Omar “Panterita” Figueroa Jr. taking on Daniel Estrada and Jorge Linares against Ira Terry. The Wilder-Linares bout will be shown on Showtime Extreme at 7 p.m. EDT/PDT and the main card will begin on Showtime at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT.
