Kenny Florian “These next couple months will be deciding factor if I comeback” Talks Gilbert Melendez

It is always painful for us fans to see a fighter or athlete we have grown up watching be forced to hang ’em up before their time. I can only imagine how hard it must be for the athlete themselves knowing they are still in peak physical condition, still capable of achieving great things and not have any power to do something about it. Kenny Florian is one of those fighters that we have seen grow with the explosion of MMA. Since making his debut on The Ultimate Fighter TV show, Florian has been a name stay on the UFC roster.

It was announced by Florian earlier in the year that he has suffered a back injury that could force him to retire. The injury caused him numbness and tingling in his back and has prevented him to retire. Up to this point, Florian has opted to let the injury naturally heal itself in a attempt to be able to fight again. Fight correspondent Marcos Villegas spoke to Florian recently in Los Angeles on the set of UFC Tonight to speak about the injury in which Florian was visibly emotional when speaking on the matter. Florian also shares his opinion on what is happening with Gilbert Melendez and feels the lightweight Strikeforce champion deserves to fight the best in the world.
