The mere thought of a mini-Cain Velasquez running through the light heavyweight division while brandishing Olympic-level wrestling rather scary, and I’m sure you do too. Whether or not Rashad Evans, an NCAA Division I wrestling champion can handle this slimmed-down Cormier is a big, big question. One that UFC 170 will answer.

For years now, Daniel Cormier has been gaining momentum through his impressive wins in Strikeforce over Bigfoot Silva and Josh Barnett, and in the UFC over Roy Nelson and Frank Mir. Cormier has barely seen adversity in his MMA career, and yours truly has been saying for about 24 months that Cormier is the guy to beat Bones Jones. It all just comes down to whether or not Cormier can actually make 205 for the first time. In the 2008 Olympics, Cormier’s kidneys shut down on a failed attempt to make weight, but he assures us that he is making the cut properly this time, and that Rashad better watch out.

“I’m not going to be as fast as I was, fighting the guys I was fighting before (at heavyweight), but I gain some things too. I gain more cardio, the ability to go harder and I think that I couldn’t fight how I wanted to at heavyweight because the size is so different. When you watch Cain fight, he’s in their face as face and I think I can do that at 205.”

This is a must-watch interview. 170 can’t get here soon enough.
