Benson Henderson vs Frankie Edgar 2 at UFC 150 on August 11th, 2012 at the Pepsi Center, Denver. 7PM/10PM PTET. On Pay Per View.
A UFC Lightweight Title rematch, Edgar hopes to get back the title he lost to Henderson at UFC 144. Edgar has given us some very exciting and amazing come back wins recently especially of course against Gray Maynard. Against Benson Henderson however Edgar ran out of answers and a fresh looking Henderson took a battered Edgars’ Lightweight crown.
I like Edgar a lot; I think very few fighters show the heart that Edgar does. But that’s his weakness. He almost seems to have to be beaten up before he gets going, I’m not sure that’s a great strategy against a man of the stature and ability of Henderson.
BetDSI have these two closely matched
Ben Henderson -175
Frankie Edgar +145
Anybody who watched the first fight amongst these two should have noted the difference between rounds. Henderson was supremely confident and untouched, while Edgar was increasingly battered and his corner was anxious.
The up-kick from Henderson at the end of the second round certainly changed the direction of the fight as Frankie crumbled to the floor, however of course Henderson still failed to finish him.
Both of these fighters are almost impossible to finish and both have great cardio, which they need because most often they seem to go the distance. Of Henderson’s career wins about 40% have been through decision (including his four UFC fights) and Frankie is at more like 60%.
This is going to be a hugely exciting battle and one that I thoroughly expect to go the full five rounds and whilst I am sure that Edgar is going to be super determined to regain his title, I cannot imagine the confidence level of Henderson right now as he really walked out of the cage not just with the title belt but with no damage at all.
I am sure that Frankie Edgar will come into the cage and put on yet another stunning; gutsy display and Benson Henderson will of course be fully prepared for another war. Much as I would like to see Edgar win, I believe that Henderson is the fighter on the way up and will be too much for Frankie over five hard rounds.
UFC 150 Pick: Benson Henderson via Unanimous Decision.
