StrikeForce releases Shields

In what can be the next step to a UFC contract StrikeForce has released their middleweight champion Jake Shields. Sherdog.com broke the story as CEO Scott Coker went public about the situation, quoting the reason negotiations broke down was because of monetary compensation.

“The numbers, there was a big gap between what we thought was real, and what we thought was going to work, we will be moving forward with the tournament,” Coker said.

The tournament Coker is referring to is a middleweight grand prix that will determine the organizations new middleweight champion. A UFC deal with Shields is expected at any moment.
