Vitor Belfort out of UFC 173 main event, Lyoto Machida to challenge Chris Weidman for the middleweight title

And like that ‘poof,’ he’s gone. Today the Nevada State Athletic Commission  declared that they were banning Testosterone Replacement Therapy after months and years of pleading from the more level-headed of the fans and pundits of the sport, now here we are – Vitor Belfort is gone. Lyoto Machida is officially in against Chris Weidman at UFC 173 at May 24th can’t get here soon enough.

It was announced on Fox Sports at 1:15 in the friggin’ morning -Machida is now on a mission to avenge his friend, Anderson Silva. Weidman holds the belt that he wants, and this new Machida Era has come to it’s ultimate culmination – the title.

I can’t wait. I seriously can’t.

Until then, we’ll search for more news, but right now Vitor Belfort doesn’t have a quote, or an official reason for pulling out. The only thing that’s a official is the marquee change.
