Matt Brown vs. Erick Silva lives up to every ounce of hype in existence

UFC Fight Night - Weigh-in

The night drug on, nearing midnight in my central time zone, but we knew Erick Silva vs. Matt Brown was going to be fireworks. The UFC hyped the fight, and rightfully so. These two men have never been in a boring fight to my knowledge, and all we heard for the last few weeks leading up to this fight were “war” “battle” and got the figurative breakdown of a medieval battlefield 2 hours after the last sword was swung.

Matt Brown has been running on a winning streak the likes of which few have seen. He’s actually tied for the second longest winning streak in the UFC at 7, only behind Jones and tied with Barao, Weidman and others. Good company. Still, this was a tough fight for the Ohio native who would be headlining his first show.

I had no dog in this fight, but to see Brown go from a guy we all questioned for holding a job in the UFC when he was 12-11 has now carved out a major chunk of the welterweight division, and he needs a big fight soon. If not a number one contender fight, then a title shot.

Or… Maybe Nick Diaz?
