Jon Jones retains, tears Glover Teixeira to shreds in a brilliant performance

After 25 minutes of absolute brilliance, Jon Jones is still the UFC light heavyweight champion. Glover did what we expected, and waded through Jones to start the fight, landed his best shots, but Jon Jones shrugged them off and came at him from angles I never even knew existed. While Teixeira did exactly what was billed – throw really, really hard shots, they didn’t make a difference. Bones once again used his length, confidence in his chin and a dizzying array of elbows to sliceĀ Glover’s face to shreds up against the cage.

Now, Jones has the Gustafsson rematch. While Gus seems to be uber-confident heading into the fight, I don’t know how he beats this Jon Jones, one that is even more improved a year after their last meeting. If Jones can beat Gus again, we have him facing the winner of Hendo vs. Cormier. I think Jones easily beats TRT-less Hendo a year from now, but Cormier is a monster. I’ve been saying for years that Cormier is the man to take the belt.

But then, how can you deny Jones’ utter brilliance?
