Eddie Alvarez wished Ben Askren shut up about his contract negotiations

It’s kind of weird to think that Eddie Alvarez is out of that crazy contract situation that he was in with Bellator for almost a year. It seemed so perpetual, as if it would last forever, and that was how Eddie would serve out the rest of his career, in some Bjorn Rebney limbo.

Thankfully, that’s not the case. Eddie came back, made some cash, then put on one of the greatest fights ever (again) when he fought Michael Chandler a second time. Now, Eddie is gearing up for his third big fight against Chandler, but has a few choice words for his former fellow Bellator champion, Ben Askren.

“Ben was very opinionated about how my situation was dealt with although he had no clue about my situation. I’ll have a little more respect and say that I don’t know what happened with (his) situation, so I’m not going to comment, rather than be ignorant like he was and go about saying some stupid shit that he said. He annoyed me.

He had a very uneducated opinion on how much money I should make. He knew how much I should ask for [because] people are making $8 an hour somewhere, so I should take the money and run. Yeah … maybe he should have shut up.”
