Conor McGregor: ‘I am going to toy’ with Dustin Poirier

The UFC is desperately searching for new superstars as the old guard has changed a lot over the last 12 months. During that time, Irishman Conor McGregor has catapulted his way up the rankings, and already earned a UFC main event in his home country of Ireland in his third UFC bout.

McGregor has been talking trash since the day he stepped into the UFC, noting that he is here to take over and become the champion. So far, everything Conor has said he has backed up 100 percent, and he plans on continuing that path by taking out Dustin Poirier this weekend at UFC 178.

Many believe that if McGregor finishes Poirier, which he plans on doing, he will leapfrog the rest of the division and earn a title shot against the winner of the UFC 179 featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.

The UFC simply can not pass up the opportunity to have McGregor become champion nor pass up him headlining a pay-per-view card. It is excruciatingly evident that McGregor is MMA’s hottest topic and his rise up the ranks has been unheralded up to this point.

In fact, the UFC plans to fly McGregor out to Brazil for UFC 179, but those plans all hinge on him defeating Poirier this weekend.

Poirier himself warned Dana White and the UFC not to “go all in” with McGregor, as he plans on stopping the hype train this weekend.

As for McGregor? He plans on toying with Poirier on Saturday evening.
