Dana White says there is ‘no value’ in Bellator

UFC president Dana White is known by the masses to never mince words or be afraid to speak his mind no matter the topic.

In a recent interview with Sports Business Daily, White was asked about potentially buying Bellator MMA just as Zuffa had purchased PRIDE, Strikeforce, and WEC before. According to the UFC president, Bellator MMA has absolutely no value.

“There’s just no value there,” White stated. “If they called me today and they wanted me to do a deal with those guys, there’s literally no contracts over there that I would be interested in.”

It seems that White got all he wanted from Bellator when he lured former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez to the UFC earlier this year.

Although Dana said there is no contracts he would be interested in, it is hard to believe that he wouldn’t want to see Bellator standouts Michael Chandler, Will Brooks, Patricio Pitbull Freire, Pat Curran, Daniel Straus, Douglas Lima, and many more all compete inside the Octagon at some point.

Then again, White is not exactly going to say his competitors have outstanding talent, so this is something that should be expected. Even though White is uninterested in buying Bellator, he did note that it is important to have other organizations in the sport of MMA.

“There’s always going to be other people out there and we need those people to exist,” White said candidly. “Not everybody can fight in the UFC. There has to be a place where younger talent can go and make money, build their records and then someday end up in the UFC. It’s definitely not a bad thing.”
