Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach has been been around some of the best fighters and fights throughout his legendary career and to no surprise of anyone, would pick two fighters in his stable over the pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather.

Roach explained  that not only would Manny Pacquiao beat Mayweather in a potential bout, but newly added Roach-trained fighter, Miguel Cotto, would best Money as well, while talking to media at the Los Angeles stop of the world tour to promote Pacquiao versus Chris Algieri.

Mayweather beat Cotto in their 2012 bout, but Cotto had a fair amount of success in that bout, Money one of his toughest fights up until the Marcos Maidana one in May.

Roach also continued his, “Mayweather is a shot fighter” talk, something that has come to light after Mayweather struggled for much of the first half of his fight with Maidana.

There is no real evidence to these claims, but of course each year the the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout doesn’t get signed, more insults are slung from each fighters camp, making the reality of the fight ever taking place slim to none.

Roach will of course say any fighter he has ties with will be a given opponent, but when Mayweather is the name in question it will draw more attention and be brought up countless times thereafter.

Mayweather will have his chance to prove Roach wrong on Sept. 13 in his rematch against Maidana, while Pacquiao will look to end Algieri’s wonder year on a sour note in their Nov. 22 fight at The Venetian in Macao, China.
